#WalkthisMay for National Walking Month

At Northshore, we’re committing to #WalkThisMay for @LivingStreets’ National Walking Month. Celebrate National Walking Month with us this May by incorporating 20-minutes of walking or wheeling into your everyday routine.

Walking has heaps of benefits, not only for the environment but for your health too - it’s a simple, free, and easy way to boost your activity levels. By swapping a short drive for a walk, you can also help reduce air pollution, congestion, and road danger – and save yourself some money in the process!

Why #Try20? A 20-minute walk can reduce the risk of a number of preventable health conditions, including certain cancers, depression, heart disease and Type 2 diabetes.

To get involved, all you need to do is:

1. Check out the #Try20 tips for ways to add 20 minutes' walking or wheeling to your everyday routine.

2. Start planning ways you can incorporate our #Try20 tips into your days - eg schedule a walking meeting, plan a nature ramble, or pledge to walk to school.

3. From Monday, 1 May, just fill out the short form to share details of your walks. By registering details of your walks online throughout May, you will be entered into the Living Streets’ prize draw for one £200 and two £50 outdoor clothing shopping vouchers.

Walk to School Week also takes place during National Walking Month (15th-19th May 2023). This years theme and challenge is #WalkwithWildlife and children are encouraged to walk, wheel, cycle and scoot to school every day of the week. Meeting various animals along the way, they'll learn about the important reasons to walk and the difference it can make for individuals, communities and the planet!

You can check with your child’s school directly to see if they’re participating. If your child’s school is not yet registered, its not to late to get involved! For more information click here.

You can also share pictures of your walking adventures with us, however big or small, by using the hashtags #WalkthisMay #Northshore #Try20 #WalkwithWildlife
