Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel is back!

Join the UK's largest walking, wheeling, scooting, and cycling challenge – Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel! From March 11th to 22nd, 2024, schools across the country will inspire pupils to make active journeys, reducing air pollution and benefiting their communities.

Impact

In 2023, participants prevented 3,096kg of nitrogen oxide and 1,890 tonnes of CO2 emissions over the 10-day challenge. With 1,862 schools and 2,666,937 active journeys logged, the impact is tangible.

How it works

Schools compete daily to record the highest number of active journeys. The best five days determine final positions, with daily prize draws for schools exceeding 15% participation. Register at www.bigwalkandwheel.org.uk from January 2024. Prizes are up for grabs with partipants in the running for rewards such as accessories and equipment to promote active travel in your school.

Get involved

All UK schools can participate, and journey logging accommodates SEN/ALN/ASN pupils. Register, mark your calendar, access resources, and contact the team for assistance. Make a positive impact on the environment and your community. Replace car journeys, promote physical activity, and support your school's success. Visit www.bigwalkandwheel.org.uk to get involved in the UK's biggest active travel competition!
