Hop on Board this September!

This September get on board for Catch the Bus Month 2023! This annual celebration from Bus Users UK aims to promote the use of public transportation, enhance community connectivity, and contribute to a greener environment. Whether you're a daily commuter or an occasional traveller, this is the perfect opportunity to hop on the bus and experience the numerous benefits of bus travel!

Benefits of bus travel

Buses are good for our health, good for the economy and good for the environment:

  • Relax & Recharge: Instead of dealing with traffic stress, sit back, relax, and use your commute time to read, work, or simply enjoy some downtime.

  • Save Money: Public transport is cost-effective. Say goodbye to fuel expenses, parking fees, and maintenance costs.

  • Efficiency: Buses follow dedicated routes, often with dedicated lanes, allowing for smoother travel even during peak hours.

  • Tackling loneliness: Buses help local communities to thrive by keeping local people connected.

  • Go Green: By choosing public transportation over personal vehicles, you're reducing your carbon footprint and contributing to cleaner air and a healthier planet. A fully loaded double-decker bus can take 75 cars off the road. If everyone switched just one car journey a month to the bus, there would be one billion fewer car journeys on our roads, and a saving of 2 million tonnes of CO2.

New to the bus?

If you haven’t travelled by bus before, or it has been a while, here are a few tips for a simple journey:

  1. Plan your journey before you travel at connectteesvalley.com/bus so you know which bus, route and stop are right for you. Keep a note of this in case you need to check when you’re travelling.

  2. When your bus is approaching the bus stop, just put out your hand so the driver knows to stop and let you on board.

  3. When you get on the bus, ask the driver for a single ticket to your destination. Your fare will be automatically capped at £2*.

  4. Once you’ve paid, take a seat and enjoy your journey.

  5. When you’re approaching your destination, press any of the stop buttons located around the bus.

  6. When the bus comes to a stop, thank your driver as you get off.

If you’re a regular bus user, buy your single ticket as normal and it’ll be automatically capped at £2. So, all you need to do is let the driver know where you’re going, and you’ll be on your way.
